Azurite Press Presents
12 Days/11 Nights-October 24 – November 4, 2012
The Azurite Press invites you on a return journey to Peru. Known as one of the greatest energy places in the world, Peru is a mystical land where the Incas once lived a simple life devoting their time to worshipping Inti, the Sun God – “The Giver of Life”.

This special journey will take you to the Incan Sacred Valley of Urubamba where you will spend 2 nights at a beautiful resort hotel nestled below the high Andean peaks. The landscape will immerse you into a serene and magical place. One of the highlights of the Sacred Valley is the Pisac’s Inca citadel. The citadel is set high above a valley floor patch-worked by patterned fields and rimmed by vast terracing cut out of solid rock.  The stonework and panoramas at Pisac's Inca citadel are magnificent. In the upper area of the ruins, you will find the Sun Temple.  Above the temple still lie more ruins, mostly unexcavated, and among the higher crevices and rocky overhangs several hidden ancient burial sites.  After a picnic lunch visit Ollantaytambo. Built as an Inca administrative center rather than a town, Ollantaytambo is laid out in the form of a corn maize and is one of the few surviving examples of an Inca Grid System.

Then it is off to Aguas Calientes where you will spend 5 days/4 nights. Auguas Calientes is the base village for your exploration of Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas" and the Eighth Wonder of the World. Machu Picchu is the most famous for its Inca Architecture. Until 1911 the well preserved ruins were hidden in a deep jungle and today seem to almost cling to the steep hillside, surrounded by towering green mountains overlooking the Vilcanota River Valley. Three visits will be included in the tour including one with a local guide and the other 2 for you to have personal exploration time. Enjoy the hills and the very peaceful lamas who make this land their home.

The final 2 days of your journey will be in Cusco, known as the center of the Inca Empire.  Cusco has some magnificent temples, beautiful landscapes, and an old world European charm.

The people of Cusco are friendly and hospitable.  One morning will be spent at a local orphanage/school. With a large number of donors the Nino’s Organization can now provide 500 neglected children with hot meals, a warm shower, medical aid, and school work assistance.  It will be a great experience to share some time with the children and bring them gifts of very much needed items. The afternoon will be spent visiting Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca-Pucara, and the Tambomachay Ruins.

Then it is back to Lima for a wrap-up session of the trips experiences.
This will be a “gridwork” workshop with limited classroom time.
