DAY 1 - DEPARTURE

Depart this evening for Europe.

DAY 2 - ATHENS

Welcome to Athens, Greece !  Upon arrival your Learning Through Travel guide will greet you to assist with your transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore the streets of Athens.

DAY 3 - ATHENS

This morning visit the famed Parthenon and Acropolis Museum, Constitution Square, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Royal Palace, Temple Of Olympian Zeus, Panathenian Stadium and the Flea Market. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.  

DAY 4 - ATHENS/NAUPLION

Depart Athens to begin your classical tour of Greece. Drive through Corinth to visit Mycenae, the Tomb of Atrids and the theater of Epidaurus. Dinner and overnight is in Nauplion. 

DAY 5 - NAUPLION/OLYMPIA

This morning drive to Olympia, the site of the first Olympic Games in 776 B.C..  The original event of running expanded to wrestling, discus, jumping, boxing, chariot races and other contests. In 393 A.D. Theodosius banned the games and 30 years later his son ordered the temples at the sanctuary destroyed. Visit the Archeological Museum where the pedestals of King Zeus have been reconstructed. See the famous statue, Hermes of Praiteles, discovered among the ruins of the temple of Hera.

DAY 6 - OLYMPIA/DELPHI

Morning departure is by ferry to Delphi.  Visit the Castalia Fountain and the treasure of the Athenians.  Dinner and overnight is in Delphi. Enjoy a stroll through the small town and stop at a taverna for some Greek coffee. 

DAY 7 - DELPHI/ATHENS 

In ancient time Delphi claimed to be the center of the world.  Climb to the top of the most wondrous archeological site in Greece. Here imagine yourself back in the days of the ancient Grecians, holding court with political men from Rome, sitting in the theater hearing debates, and gaining the knowledge that was inscribed upon the Delphi oracle " Know thyself and nothing in excess, and upon these all other precepts depend. " Visit the Delphi Museum which houses the famous Naxian Sphinx - part bird, lion and woman, the bronze charioteer and other wonders of ancient days. Return to Athens for overnight.  

DAY 8 - ATHENS/HYDRA/POROS/AGENIA

Take an early morning drive to Piraeus to embark your full day cruise, visiting the beautiful islands of Hydra, Porous and Agenia. Lunch is included. 

DAY 9 - DEPARTURE

Farewell to Greece as you transfer to the Airport for your return. Arrive home, your heart and mind filled with many happy memories.
